Every year, thousands of men, women and children are trafficked to the UK.
Bakhita House is a residence owned and based within the Diocese of Westminster and set up by CARITAS Westminster as part of the Catholic Church’s response to this issue, with the aim of offering befriending, guidance, support and resettlement of women who are the victims of Human Trafficking.
We are now looking to recruit a Support Worker to primarily ensure the safety and security of guests and oversee the night security of the project. This will include day and night shifts.
She will be responsible for the support case load overseeing all aspects of guests’ housing matters and participating in the design of a life skills programme and workshops.
All post-holders must be experienced in working with victims of human trafficking and modern slavery, and thus able to handle with sensitivity all guests displaying challenging behaviour as a result of experiencing trauma.
Excellent communication, organisation and team working skills together with a commitment to the ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church would also be crucial.
Due to the nature of this work, all post-holders will be required to have a flexible approach in terms of working hours and must therefore be willing to work additional hours as required
All posts are subject to a DBS Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barred List check.
Hours of work: 35 hours per week, usually on a 4 week rolling rota, for 5 days per week (including bank holidays and weekends but excluding nights)
Salary: £26,586 per annum
