Retreat Leader Job Description

 

We are seeking a passionate and faith-filled individual to join the Westminster Youth Ministry team as a Retreat Leader at our SPEC Retreat Centre in Pinner. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who feels called to inspire and evangelise young people through Catholic retreat ministry.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Retreat Leader at SPEC, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate day and residential retreat programmes for children and young people in school years 4 to 13.
  • Help young people encounter the person of Jesus Christ and deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of Retreat Leaders to maintain high standards of retreat content, delivery and professionalism.
  • Assist the Senior Retreat Leader in developing and reviewing retreat programmes to ensure they remain relevant, impactful and aligned with the diocesan mission.
  • Promote the Catholic ethos of SPEC through your words, actions, and witness to faith.
  • Support the wider mission of Westminster Youth Ministry through participation in events, school visits, and diocesan outreach.

 

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a practising Catholic with a desire to serve the Church through youth ministry.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage young people.
  • Has a passion for evangelisation, formation and helping others encounter Christ.
  • Works well as part of a team and shows a collaborative, servant-hearted approach.
  • Is organised, adaptable and proactive, with the ability to manage the practical and pastoral elements of retreat delivery.
  • Understands and respects professional boundaries in working with young people.
  • Has relevant experience in youth work, retreat leadership, or faith-based ministry (desirable but not essential).
  • Is willing to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends as part of a rota.
