Are you a welcoming and organised individual looking to make a meaningful contribution in a faith-based environment? The University Chaplaincy at Newman House is seeking a Receptionist & Administrative Assistant to be the first point of contact for visitors and provide essential administrative support to the Senior Chaplain and Finance & Operations Manager.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and professional welcome at reception
  • Handle phone calls, messages, mail, and visitor access
  • Support day-to-day office administration including printing, data entry, and contractor liaison
  • Assist with Health & Safety record-keeping and risk assessments for activities and events
  • Coordinate summer vacation hostel bookings
  • Support chaplaincy activities and pastoral functions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Calm and creative problem-solving approach
  • Discretion, empathy, and sound judgement
  • Experience in administrative or secretarial roles
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Publisher, Forms)
  • Understanding of the Catholic Church and a commitment to its mission

Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.
