Parish Cleaner Job Description – Ely Place Parish

Ely Place Parish (St Etheldreda’s) is seeking a reliable and conscientious Parish Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness and smooth day‑to‑day upkeep of the parish presbytery.

This is a permanent, part‑time role ideal for someone who takes pride in creating a welcoming, clean, and respectful environment and who is aligned with the mission and values of the Catholic Church.

Key Responsibilities

  • General cleaning of the presbytery, including bedrooms, bathrooms, and toilets
  • Cleaning and maintaining communal areas (stairs, sacristy, wedding room)
  • Cleaning the kitchen and polishing floors and surfaces
  • Cleaning and vacuuming the parish office
  • Undertaking household laundry (bed linen, towels, etc.)
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions or building defects to the Parish Priest

  • Has experience in a similar cleaning role
  • Is organised, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully with clergy, staff, and visitors
  • Pays close attention to detail and takes pride in their work
  • Is adaptable and able to problem‑solve when required

Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.
