Bookkeeper Job Description – Kensington
Are you an experienced bookkeeper with a heart for service and a passion for working in a faith-based environment? Kensington Parish is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Parish Bookkeeper to support our vibrant parish community.
This vital role ensures the smooth running of our financial operations, supporting the mission of the Diocese of Westminster and contributing to the life of our parish.
What you’ll be doing:
- Maintaining accurate financial records using the Diocese’s system (OPAS)
- Carrying out monthly bank reconciliations and preparing year-end returns
- Managing planned giving, including Gift Aid and digital donation records
- Preparing reports for the Parish Finance Committee and responding to parishioner queries
- Supporting the integrity and transparency of parish finances
What we’re looking for:
- AAT qualification or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting experience
- Proven competence with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- A self-starter who thrives on precision, independence and discretion
- A genuine desire to work for the Catholic Church, aligned with its mission and values
