We are seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic Parish Bookkeeper to support the mission and ministry of Holy Trinity Church, Baldock, part of the Diocese of Westminster.

This part-time role is ideal for someone who combines a head for figures with a heart for service. You’ll work closely with the Parish Priest, taking ownership of the parish’s finances and ensuring accurate record-keeping in line with diocesan guidelines.

You’ll bring your organisational flair, attention to detail, and IT skills to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes—making a quiet but essential contribution to parish life.

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain accurate parish accounts using the Diocesan “OPAS” system
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly and manage credit card records
  • Prepare financial returns and assist with reports for the Parish Finance Committee
  • Administer Planned Giving and Gift Aid, liaising with parishioners when needed
  • Oversee online donations and update systems accordingly
  • Assist with training and support for parish finance procedures
  • Coordinate volunteers as required

What we’re looking for:

  • Relevant bookkeeping/accounting experience (ideally with charity or parish work)
  • Strong IT skills, especially in Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Integrity, discretion, and the ability to work independently
  • A warm and professional manner with a willingness to support parish life
  • Commitment to the values and mission of the Diocese of Westminster

What we offer you

In return for your hard work and commitment to us, you will receive a competitive reward package which will include, but is not limited to:

  • 23 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata for part time employees)
  • Vouchers for free eye tests and £50 towards the cost of glasses
  • Reward Gateway scheme offering discounts on a wide range of products and services
  • Pension scheme for eligible employees – 5% paid by the employer
  • Salary exchange (salary sacrifice) for pension
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Life assurance/ Death in Service benefit

Why join us?

You’ll be part of a close-knit parish community, working in a role where your skills make a meaningful difference. We are proud of our diocesan values—competence, reliability, honesty, perseverance, and love—and we look for people who embody these in all they do.
