Are you passionate about supporting adults with learning disabilities in a faith-inspired, person-centred environment?

St Joseph’s Pastoral Centre is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our Lifelong Learning team. This role provides a meaningful opportunity to walk alongside adults with learning disabilities, helping them flourish both educationally and personally in a supportive Catholic setting.

Roles on offer;

  • My Screen Heroes – Monday 13:30 – 16:30
  • Experience Cooking – Tuesday 10:00 – 13:00
  • Skills for Life and Work – Tuesday 13:30 – 16:30
  • My Creative Accessories – Thursday 10:00 – 13:00
  • Exploring Cookery – Thursday 13:30 – 16:30

 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide in-class and out-of-class support to students, enabling them to participate fully in learning activities.
  • Assist with communication, mobility, and practical needs to promote each student’s independence and dignity.
  • Work closely with tutors to deliver and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to student records, person-centred planning, and session evaluations.
  • Uphold St Joseph’s values and policies on safeguarding, health and safety, and dignity of care.
  • Occasionally stand in for tutors when required and take initiative to support group activities.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a respectful and patient approach to care.
  • Organised, adaptable, and able to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Proven ability to motivate and support others in a learning or care setting.
  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities (desirable).
  • A commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
  • An understanding of the importance of person-centred support.
  • Qualifications or experience in relevant subject areas (desirable).
