Finance Manager JD Oct25

Diocese of Westminster Rewards and Benefits Summary 2025

We are looking for a qualified Finance Manager to join our dedicated team at the Diocese of Westminster. This is an opportunity to lead the financial accounting function alongside our Financial Controller, helping drive positive change in our charity and wider community.

About the Role

As Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, leading a team of Accounts Assistants, and ensuring seamless financial operations. You’ll have ownership of key processes like month-end reporting, fixed asset management, and internal recharges, while supporting the annual audit process. This role offers variety, impact, and a chance to make a difference within a faith-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance team, providing mentorship, setting objectives, and fostering professional growth.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial data management, including income and expenditure, fixed assets, and recharges.

  • Own the month-end process, from journal approvals to balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Lead the internal recharges process for credit card and other diocesan activities.

  • Manage credit card reconciliations, ensuring adherence to policy and timely submissions.

  • Review and approve payments, including weekly BACS and HSBCnet runs.

  • Support the annual audit, preparing working papers and liaising with auditors.

  • Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, ensuring robust financial controls.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience.

  • Strong financial accounting skills with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word; experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is desirable.

  • Experience in a charitable or faith-based environment is a plus, but not essential.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including 23 days annual leave + bank holidays, pension scheme, cycle-to-work, life assurance, and more.

  • Opportunities for professional development and growth.

  • A supportive, values-driven work environment where your contributions truly make a difference.
