Step into the Heart of the Diocese!

Behind the scenes of the Diocese of Westminster lies a quiet and curious space.

The diocesan archives, situated within the grounds of Our Lady of Victories, Kensington, is where centuries of faith, history, and rich heritage are carefully preserved. We are now seeking a dedicated Archives Assistant to help care for this legacy.

In this role, you’ll support the Administrative Archivist in maintaining the reading room and collections. Your days may include:

  • Guiding researchers through rare and historic documents
  • Rehousing fragile manuscripts
  • Cataloguing hidden treasures of the Church’s past

Your work will help ensure the story of the Diocese remains accessible for generations to come.

About You

You’re naturally curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about history. You bring warmth to visitor interactions and precision to archival tasks and you will thrive on working in such a unique role for the Diocese

You offer:

  • A keen interest in archives and records management (experience with ecclesiastical archives is a plus)
  • Sympathy with the mission and history of the Catholic Church in England
  • Strong research skills and historical awareness
  • Confidence with IT (Microsoft Office) and a willingness to learn cataloguing systems
  • A calm, professional, and discreet approach

This role is ideal for those considering further study in archives and records management — offering hands-on experience in a living, working archive.
