SPEC Retreat Centre Administrative Assistant Job Description

About the role

Imagine a place where every email you send and every form you file helps create an encounter with God for a young person. At the SPEC Retreat Centre, we welcome schools and parishes from across the Diocese for days and weekends that shape faith and community.

As our Administrator, you won’t just keep the wheels turning — you’ll be at the hub of everything, ensuring bookings run smoothly, finances are handled with care, and every detail is in place so that our guests can focus on what really matters. Working side-by-side with the Retreat Centre Manager, your role will blend precision, creativity, and a shared sense of mission.

About you

You thrive in a role where organisation meets purpose. Spreadsheets don’t intimidate you, deadlines energise you, and you know how to keep a lot of plates spinning without dropping a single one.

You bring:

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and their faith formation
  • A knack for turning administration into an art form
  • Strong IT skills and comfort with financial processes
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
  • Discretion, emotional intelligence, and a listening ear

If you’ve ever wanted your professional skills to fuel something with eternal significance, this is your moment.

About us

We are Westminster Youth Ministry — part of the Diocese of Westminster — guided by the principles of Catholic social teaching and driven by our core values: Competence, Reliability, Honesty, Perseverance, and Love. We believe administration is a ministry in itself, creating the conditions for encounter, growth, and transformation.

At SPEC, you’ll join a team that laughs together, prays together, and rolls up our sleeves together to make retreats happen — rain or shine.

What we offer you

In return for your hard work and commitment to us, you will receive a competitive reward package which will include, but is not limited to:

  • 23 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata for part time employees)
  • Vouchers for free eye tests and £50 towards the cost of glasses
  • Reward Gateway scheme offering discounts on a wide range of products and services
  • Pension scheme for eligible employees – 5% paid by the employer
  • Salary exchange (salary sacrifice) for pension
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Life assurance/ Death in Service benefit
