Caritas St Joseph’s is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic Gardening Support Assistant to join our horticulture team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults with learning disabilities as they develop gardening skills, independence, and confidence — all while helping our allotment and polytunnel thrive.

 About the Role

As a key member of our horticulture provision, you will:

  • Support the Horticulture Tutor with practical gardening tasks such as weeding, watering, and deadheading.
  • Teach and mentor two students, helping them learn the basics of gardening through hands-on activities.
  • Assist students in maintaining our allotment and polytunnel, encouraging independence, choice, and personal growth.
  • Work in line with St Joseph’s ethos, safeguarding policies, and best practice guidelines.

This role is ideal for someone who loves being outdoors, enjoys working with people, and finds joy in helping others flourish

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with people who have learning difficulties.
  • Experience in a faith-based, charitable, or non-profit setting.
  • A desire to work within the Catholic Church and a basic understanding of its structure.

Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.

Additional Information

  • This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
