Parish Cleaner Job Description

 

About the Role

The Parish of Spanish Place is seeking two reliable and detail-oriented Parish Cleaners to help maintain the cleanliness and care of our beautiful and historic church buildings, including the church, rectory, and social centre. Working together as part of a small and supportive team, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring our parish is a welcoming, hygienic, and respectful space for all who visit and worship with us.

You will carry out regular cleaning duties across a range of parish buildings, ensure hygiene standards are maintained, and support the preparation and clean-up of special events.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • General cleaning of the church, sacristy, rectory, office, communal areas, and toilets
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing, including brass altar railings
  • Emptying bins and managing waste and recycling appropriately
  • Regular cleaning of the Parish Centre, including the kitchen, hall, stairwells, and choir room
  • Deep cleaning of kitchen appliances and high surfaces on a rotational basis
  • Support for occasional or event-related cleaning as needed

 

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have relevant experience in a cleaning role
  • Have excellent attention to detail and a high standard of hygiene
  • Can work both independently and as part of a team
  • Are dependable, punctual, and respectful of the church environment
  • Demonstrate a respectful understanding of the Catholic faith and parish life
  • Are physically capable of carrying out manual cleaning tasks
