Property Director Job Description
Lead with Purpose. Create a Lasting Legacy.
The Diocese of Westminster is seeking a dynamic and values-driven Director of Property Services to lead one of the most significant and varied property portfolios in the UK. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of our buildings and spaces—ensuring they serve communities, nurture wellbeing, and support the mission of the Church for generations to come.
With over 500 live projects across churches, schools, community buildings, and the Westminster Cathedral complex, we’re looking for someone who combines strategic leadership and technical excellence with compassion, collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose.
Your Role
As Director of Property Services, you will:
- Set and lead the Diocese’s long-term property strategy, rooted in sustainability, stewardship, and service.
- Lead a talented and multidisciplinary team across Building Surveying, Health & Safety, Development, and Cathedral Works.
- Oversee major capital and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance, safety, and community impact.
- Champion digital innovation and decarbonisation across our estate.
- Foster strong relationships with parishes, schools, trustees, and partners—building trust and shared ownership.
- Represent the Diocese at board level, offering strategic insight and clear, collaborative leadership.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an inspirational leader who brings:
- Proven experience managing large, complex property portfolios.
- Chartered status (MRICS or MCIOB) and a relevant degree.
- A track record in project delivery, compliance, governance, and innovation.
- Financial acumen, sound risk management, and excellent stakeholder skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to mentoring and team development.
- A strong commitment to inclusion, sustainability, and long-term community value.
Experience in faith-based, non-profit, or education settings is welcome—but not essential. What matters most is your integrity, your leadership, and your alignment with our mission and values.
Why Join Us?
We are committed to inclusive, human-centred leadership. As Director of Property Services, you’ll have the chance to make a real and lasting difference—ensuring our spaces remain safe, welcoming, and purpose-driven for all who use them.
