DIRECTOR OF MUSIC – Twickenham Job Description

 

The Parish of St James, Twickenham, is seeking a talented and committed Director of Music / Organist to lead and develop our parish choir and enhance the musical life of our liturgical celebrations.

This is a wonderful opportunity to use your musical and liturgical gifts in a vibrant and welcoming parish, fostering beauty, reverence, and community spirit through sacred music.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the parish choir for the 10:30am Sunday Mass, Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter liturgies
  • Collaborate with the Parish Priest on music selection for Church services
  • Choose music appropriate to the character and needs of the congregation
  • Lead choir rehearsals as appropriate
  • Play the organ at designated services
  • Report on the tuning and maintenance needs of musical instruments
  • Provide suitable, qualified cover during absences
  • Maintain a high quality of music, in line with the Catholic liturgical tradition
