Job description – Sacristan at Westminster Cathedral
Do you have a passion for liturgy, attention to detail, and a desire to serve at the heart of the Church’s worship? Westminster Cathedral – the Mother Church of the Catholic community in England and Wales – is looking for a dedicated Sacristan to join its committed Sacristy Team.
As Sacristan, you’ll play a vital role in preparing for the Cathedral’s daily Masses, special liturgies, and major diocesan celebrations. From setting up sacred vessels and vestments to supporting clergy and volunteers, you’ll help ensure that everything is in place for the reverent and smooth running of worship at the Cathedral.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience in a similar role or deep familiarity with Catholic liturgy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- A respectful, team-focused approach and a heart for service.
- A willingness to wear a cassock and uphold the sacred character of the space.
Why join us?
You’ll be part of a welcoming and dynamic team at one of London’s most iconic churches. We offer:
- Life Assurance and Healthcare Cash Plan
- Season Ticket and Cycle to Work schemes
- Staff discounts through Edenred
- Churches Mutual low-interest loans
- 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
This is more than a job – it’s a ministry at the very centre of the Church’s life in our capital.
