Parish Administrator and Bookkeeper – Clerkenwell Job Description

 

We are seeking a proactive and well-organised Parish Administrator and Bookkeeper to support the life and mission of Clerkenwell Parish. This is a fulfilling and varied role at the heart of a vibrant parish community, where you will provide essential administrative and financial support to the Parish Priest.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administration: You will manage the day-to-day running of the parish office, co-ordinate communications, maintain accurate records, and assist with scheduling, correspondence, and general clerical duties.
  • Parish Support: You will be responsible for organising and supporting liturgical and parish events, maintaining registers for baptisms, weddings, and funerals, and supporting parish-based community events.
  • Finance & Bookkeeping: You will have overall responsibility for managing parish finances. This includes bookkeeping via OPAS, monthly reconciliations, preparing financial returns and reports, and managing online banking and Gift Aid claims.

 

About You

The ideal candidate will be a reliable and personable administrator with:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a church or charitable environment
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with bookkeeping software
  • A flexible, collaborative approach and the ability to work independently
  • A commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic Church
