SPEC Retreat Centre Administrator Job Description
Do you have the skills to support the administration of residential and day retreats, contributing to the overall mission of youth ministry at the Diocese of Westminster? Then you could be the SPEC Retreat Centre Administrator.
What you’ll be doing
Situated in Pinner, Westminster Youth Ministry’s Retreat Centre, through the retreat experience, aims to create opportunities for young people to have a Spiritual and Personal Encounter with Christ (SPEC). The Centre Administrator has overall responsibility for administrative and secretarial support to assist with the day to day running of the retreat centre and its retreat programmes.
As Centre Administrator you will be at the heart of ensuring that SPEC maintains a safe and secure environment for the staff, volunteers and guests who use the retreat centre and/or its services by ensuring that all centre policies and procedures are both up-to-date, and accessible to all. Additionally, you will work closely with the Centre Manager to develop a purchase system, and will be responsible for the office and housekeeping orders, thus supporting the smooth-running of the centre.
Furthermore, you will collate the centre’s quantitative and qualitative data and provide regular reports, particularly relating to the retreat programmes run at SPEC. Also, you will work alongside the Director for Youth Ministry and the Centre Manager to contribute to the Centre’s budget.
This means there’s lots to get involved in – and to be excited about.
What we’re looking for
You will love working in an organised and goal-driven way, able to maintain focus whilst working alone, using your initiative to develop and organise all aspects of work within operational and regulatory parameters. The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of managing an office, and ideally will have experience in fields of hospitality, finance/administration, business management or events management.
Additionally, you will have excellent organisational skills, and an innate ability to think creatively to meet challenging targets and operational goals. The successful candidate may have project management experience including risk and fiscal management, which are not essential. However, it is essential that the Centre Administrator is able to work with complete discretion and confidentiality, as well as demonstrating clear emotional intelligence and empathy whilst carrying out their role.
