Director of Youth Choir Job Description
Are you passionate about music and working with young people? Do you have the vision and energy to lead a vibrant youth choir in a faith-based community?
We are seeking a Youth Choir Director to lead and develop a choir of boys and girls aged 7 and above across our parishes in Rickmansworth and Mill End. This is a unique opportunity to shape a growing ministry and inspire the next generation through music and worship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly rehearsals (Tuesdays, 3:30–4:45pm at St John’s Church, Mill End)
- Direct the choir at monthly Masses:
- 6pm once a month at Our Lady Help of Christians, Rickmansworth
- 10:30am once a month at St John the Evangelist, Mill End
- Prepare music for special services including Christmas and Easter as agreed with the Parish Priest.
- Recruit, train, and supervise choristers
- Collaborate with the Parish Priest on music selection
- Manage choir administration including registration fees
- Ensure safeguarding policies are upheld
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is not only competent in music but who also embodies our diocesan values of Competence, Reliability, Honesty, Perseverance, and Love.
- Experienced choral director and keyboard player
- Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Experience teaching children and working in team environments
- Understanding of safeguarding practices
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Diocese of Westminster
Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.
